Congratulations to Gary Hickson, QI at RAF Shawbury, who received a nomination from the Honourable Company of Air Pilots for the prestigious Master Air Pilot award.
The Honourable Company of Air Pilots recognises aviators (pilots, navigators and rearcrew), who have displayed, over a number of years, qualities of pilotage, air navigation, airmanship and character, which have brought honour and respect to the profession.
The awards are in recognition of long service and consistently high standards in one or more branches of professional flying, whether civil or military, including air transport, flying instruction, test, or operational flying. As the title suggests, recipients will be proven Masters of their craft.
Gary was presented with his certificate at a special Court Meeting held prior to the Trophies & Awards banquet at the Guildhall, London. Certificates were presented by the Master of the Company in the presence of HRH The Duke of Kent and the Lord Mayor of London.
RAF Shawbury continues to be recognised as a world-leader in rotatory wing training, and seven of the 18 certificates awarded on the night were Shawbury-related.
