Join Ascent Flight Training as a Data
Analyst Apprentice and get hands-on working with data professionals to
collect, analyse, and interpret data, providing actionable insights that
improve operational performance and student outcomes. As part of this role, you
will complete a degree-level apprenticeship (BSc in Digital & Technology
Solutions – Data Analyst) while gaining real-world experience.
✈️ About Ascent Flight Training
Ascent Flight Training is a joint
venture between Lockheed Martin and Babcock International, responsible
for delivering the UK Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS). We train the
next generation of Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, and Army pilots, using advanced
aircraft, simulators, and training systems.

🚀 What You’ll Be Doing
As a Data Analyst Apprentice,
you’ll learn how to:
Ø Collect,
cleanse and organise data from multiple internal systems
Ø Analyse
datasets to identify trends, patterns, and performance issues
Ø Produce
dashboards, reports and visualisations for stakeholders
Ø Support
data quality, governance, and documentation processes
Ø Work
with stakeholders to understand requirements and business questions
Ø Use
analytical tools and programming (e.g. Excel, SQL, Python, Power BI)
Ø Present
findings and recommendations to non-technical audiences
Ø Contribute
to continuous improvement and digital transformation initiatives
You’ll gain experience across different
areas of the business, working alongside experienced professionals who will
mentor and support you.
🎓 Your Apprenticeship
You’ll be fully supported by Weston
College while working towards:
- Apprenticeship Standard: BSc in Digital & Technology Solutions – Data Analyst (Level
6)
- Start Date: September 2026
- Duration: 48 months + 3 months End Point Assessment
- Delivery: 1 day every week in Weston College, 1 study and 3 days in
Ascent HQ

🎓 Entry Requirements
Applicants should meet typical Level 6
apprenticeship entry criteria:

GCSEs including:
Ø Maths
(Grade 5 or above)
Ø English
(Grade 4 or above) [gov.uk]
Ø PLUS
ONE of the following:
Ø 3 A
Levels (typically minimum BBC, including Maths preferred) [gov.uk]
Ø BTEC
Level 3 or equivalent qualification
Ø Relevant
Level 4 apprenticeship (e.g. Data Analyst)

Right to work in the UK and eligibility for apprenticeship funding
Desirable Experience:
Ø Experience
using Excel or data tools
Ø Understanding
of databases or data structures
Ø Basic
programming knowledge (e.g. Python, SQL, R)
Ø Interest
in data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)
