It’s been a busy first few weeks for Ascent’s new MD, Chloe Barker. In December, she joined the UKMFTS leadership team in a whistle-stop tour of our sites across the UK.
Alongside Air Commodore Rob Caine, Head of Flying Training, and Commodore Steve Jose, Head of UKMFTS, Chloe enjoyed a ‘day in the life’ at each unit.
The four-day tour, starting at RNAS Culdrose and then heading to RAF Valley, RAF Shawbury and RAF Cranwell, was a chance for colleagues and trainees to see a unified DFT, DE&S and Ascent leadership, talk through the UKMFTS training system, and discuss how UKMFTS will continue to collaboratively deliver world-class aircrew to the front line.
It was also a fantastic opportunity for our top level leaders to gain insight into how students train – to see their stresses, pressures and commitment at first hand, and listen and respond to their concerns and ideas, so that we can best provide a training programme that works effectively and efficiently for them.
