The need:
London’s Air Ambulance Charity (LAA) – which delivers an advanced trauma team to critically injured people who live, work and travel within the M25 – needed help to continue its life-saving work across the capital. The charity raised £15m to replace its MD902 Explorer helicopters with state-of-the-art Airbus H135s, but needed help training its pilots.
The solution:
Ascent’s experienced instructors, based at our site at RAF Shawbury, use excess capacity on our Ground Based Training Equipment – including the Command and Tactics Trainers and Flight Training Devices – to give the charity’s pilots simulated experiences that will reflect some of the real-life situations they could face. We also use our simulators to augment LAA’s recruitment process for new pilots.
