In this series of profiles, we take a close look at Ascent’s fleet of training aircraft, in use at our sites across the UK, and the work they carry out for the UK’s Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS).

Grob 120 TP Prefect T1

The Prefect has been part of the UKMFTS fleet since 2017 and is used to provide Elementary Flying Training at RAF Cranwell and RAF Barkston Heath. We have 23 x Prefects in the fleet – flying a total of 52,847 flying hours for UKMFTS as of August 2025.

“The Prefect is a fantastic aircraft to fly. It combines manoeuvrability, power and stability, to provide a platform that is as useful as it is fun. Put this together with its modern avionics suite and Prefect is a great platform for us to teach the EFT syllabus, including Multi-Engine Lead In and Fast Jet Lead In courses.”
