Our support

Ascent is proud to be one of the 100 Great British Employers of Veterans, as well as a signatory of the Women in Defence Charter and the Armed Forces Covenant and supporter of the Ex-Forces in Business Award.

We received the Defence ERS Silver Award in 2022, and enable members of the Armed Forces to apply for vacancies at our sites and Training Hub through the Managed Path Scheme. As part of our STEM support, we work closely with the Jon Egging Trust, providing CV writing and interview technique training, along with opportunities to help build confidence and teamwork skills at our RAF Cranwell and RNAS Culdrose sites.

Working sustainably

Our business operations have an impact on the environment, and we believe we have a responsibility to support the global effort to fight climate change.

As a UK business, we are committed to the Government’s net zero target by 2050 and we have a range of projects and business processes that reflect our commitment to sustainability, fighting climate change and local community support:

Capturing and monitoring +

We are accurately capturing and monitoring our flying operations and energy usage within our training facilities and work with our MOD customers to help reduce consumption of aviation fuel and utilities

Renewable energy sources +

We are looking at opportunities to use renewable energy sources, testing potential integration of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and carbon offsetting

Carbon reduction working group champions +

Our carbon reduction working group champions changes within the business and monitors best practice across the sector and wider business

Downloading and offloading +

Our training strategy encourages the use of downloading and offloading:

  • Downloading aims to shift training for later phases of our training systems to lower environmental impact platforms and systems
  • Offloading aims to reduce the volume of live flying each student receives, shifting training to ground based systems with far less environmental impact
Green initiatives +

We support recycling points, ‘follow me’ printer options, cycle to work, an EV car scheme and partner with Train Hugger to plant a tree for every train ticket we book

Hybrid working +

Hybrid working for eligible staff reduces the impact of commuting and we strive to reduce business travel and car share where possible

Supply chain alignment +

We ensure out supply chain partners are aligned to our climate change strategy

Sustainability assessment +

All our change projects include a sustainability assessment
