Lee’s an A1 instructor!

Huge congratulations to Ascent Snr Maritime Instructor, Lee Calderwood, who has joined the prestigious group of pilots to be awarded an A1 Instructional Certificate. The A1 Instructor is deemed as exceptional in all respects and approval is required by OC Exam Wing before conducting the assessment.

AOC 22 Gp was accompanied by Comdt CFS at 202 Squadron to present Lee with his certificate. Ascent Shawbury General Manager, Simon Vorley, said: “Lee’s successful completion of the A1 instructional category is a great achievement. He now holds the highest possible instructor category, bringing the total number of Ascent Rotary Wing A1s to three. We are justifiably proud of the enormous amount of expertise that our instructors share with our trainees.”

Lee has been with Ascent for seven years and is an experienced QHI with 6,200 flying hours, of which 3,700 are instructional. Over his 40-year flying career, he has taught on a wide range of aircraft including the Gazelle, Wessex, SeaKing, Griffin, AW139 and Jupiter.
