At Ascent, we train the aircrew of the future, and it is always a delight to meet young people with a passion for aviation.
The annual Industry Day at the National Air & Space Camp at RAF Syerston in August was a fantastic opportunity to connect with many of the 2,000 Air Cadets and 350 Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) who attended from around the world. Cadets from as far away as Cornwall, Northern Ireland and even Miami joined the Ascent team on our stand during the event.

This was a unique chance for Ascent to inspire the next generation of aviators and raise awareness of the UK Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS). Many of the young people we spoke with aspire to join the UK’s military services, and connecting with these future aviators early on, sharing insight and available pathways, is a really positive experience for them – and for us!
The event also enabled the team to talk with some of the adult volunteers and share recruitment opportunities. As a Silver Award accredited Armed Forces Covenant employer, we are committed to supporting those who serve or have served in the armed forces, or cadet forces.

The Industry Day included interactive sessions, informative displays and an appearance from some of our UKMFTS training aircraft, including a Juno from RAF Shawbury and Prefect from RAF Cranwell.
Our thanks to the event organisers, and to all those who stopped to chat with us, and helped us to spend such a fulfilling day, inspiring young people to think about future air crew careers, and supporting the military community.
