Training with the RNLI
We were very proud to support the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) in its important work, through a joint training exercise with our colleagues at 202 Sqn at RAF Valley.
Ascent SMEs helped produce a risk assessment and briefing package for conducting boat transfers, using procedures contained within Ascent courseware.
Our QHCIs David Brown and Lee Williams were then part of the exercise that saw Jupiter aircrew and RNLI volunteers practice their maritime skills by transferring a winchman via the use of a hi-line – which enhances safety by controlling the arrival and departure of the winchman – while the vessel was underway in the Menai Straits.
The exercise helped the RNLI refine its lifesaving skills for operational use, and provided an excellent training opportunity for our staff.
