UKMFTS: Gathering pace as we approach key milestones

The next few months, set against the backdrop of the Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR), promse to be very busy for the Company. Outline Solutions are expected during December from potential Aircraft System Providers (ASPs).  Detailed Solution Request for Proposals (RFPs) will be produced in parallel and issued during the first quarter of 2011 to those companies successful at Outline.

The holistic Review Note (RN) for Uncommitted Packages will be submitted to the defence Equipment & Support Investment Board (DESIB) during October with Investment Approvals Board (IAB) approval not now expected until the first quarter of 2011 due to uncertainties associated with SDSR.  The committed packages, comprising Rear Crew Stage 1 (RCS1) and Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT) both move forward a pace with curriculum design, recruitment of personnel and detailed governance procedures maturing well.

Instructor training for RCS1 will commence during March with the first batch of students arriving at RAF Barkston Heath in June 2011 to commence Common Core Ground School (CCGS) prior to moving to RNAS Culdrose, and Basic Observer Training (BOC) on the King Air during October 2011.  AJT is equally exciting with the impressive new hangar and training building on target for completion and occupation during late October 2010.

The Ground Based Training Equipment (GBTE) is on track to achieve Ready for Training Use (RFTU) during January 2011. Instructor training commences in February and the first students arrive during November 2011.
