Ascent Flight Training, the Training System Partner to the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence for UK Military Flying Training System (UK MFTS) programme today announced the selection of Affinity as the preferred bidder in the Aircraft Service Provider (ASP) competition for the Fixed Wing programme within UKMFTS. This is a key milestone along the route to a major investment decision.
The Fixed Wing programme is intended to replace the elementary, multi-engine and basic flying training that is currently delivered on aging platforms with a new fully integrated solution that provides state-of-the-art training aircraft, ground based training devices and courseware all derived from the holistic training design developed by Ascent.

The programme includes the provision of the instruction, infrastructure and full life support through to the contract end date for UK MFTS in May 2033.
Ascent is a training design and delivery organisation created as a joint venture between Lockheed Martin and Babcock International. Appointed as the UK MoD’s Training Service Partner in 2008, Ascent has a 25-year contract to provide the United Kingdom Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS) for the UK’s Armed Forces.
