On Tuesday 16th January a ceremony was held to formally mark the opening of our state of the art infrastructure including an Operational Support Building and advanced ground based training equipment at RAF Cranwell. The new ‘Sykes Building’ was opened by Air Marshal Sean Reynolds; the Senior Responsible Owner of the UKMFTS Programme.
The Sykes Building is named after Air Vice Marshal Sir Frederick Hugh Sykes formerly an Army officer who latterly became the second Chief of the Air Staff shortly after the formation of the Royal Air Force and was instrumental in the establishment of the then new Service.
