RAF Valley and the Fixed Wing Team are poised ready to enter the next stage of training delivery. With the final Texan now at Valley and the Release to Service imminent, the Team are eager to start flying and progressing towards the first student courses next year.
The team currently includes; 1 Chief Instructor, 1 Trg Mgr, 1 Ops Mgr, 5 QFIs, 6 QIs, 2 Ops, 2 Schedulers, 1 Admin Support and will work alongside their military colleagues to deliver the output to Advanced Jet Training, just across the road.
The QFI cadre have a combined total of over 30,000hrs on various aircraft types from Phantoms, Tornados, Sea Harriers and Hawks (inc Red Arrows). All are A2 QFIs with EFT, BFT and AFT experience. They have already completed a conversion to type course in Kansas flying 22 sorties earlier in the year. Alongside them, the QIs are training to use the Ground Based Training Equipment and have a similarly significant amount of airborne experience, with a combined total of over 30,000 hours on various types of Fast Jet and Rotary Wing.
They are complemented by the support staff who are busy building the squadron, and all are working alongside 13 Military QFIs to deliver 6 Student courses a year
